About Olean Kennel Club

Founded in 1923, the Olean Kennel Club is an AKC all-breed club dedicated to strengthening the bond between dogs and their people through training, education, and sport. We welcome all dogs—purebred or mixed breed—and handlers of all experience levels, from brand-new puppy owners to seasoned competitors. Whether you want better everyday manners, a fun new activity, or the chance to compete and earn AKC titles, OKC offers a welcoming place to learn and grow together.

Our Mission

We celebrate dogs in all the roles they play in our lives: family members, companions, athletes, helpers, and working partners. We believe life is better with a dog, and that positive training is the foundation of a strong, lasting relationship. Olean Kennel Club is committed to promoting responsible dog ownership, expanding the public’s knowledge and appreciation of dogs, and helping handlers build the skills, confidence, and connection that bring out the best in their dogs.

Training Classes, Trials, and Events

Through member-led classes in puppy skills, obedience, Canine Good Citizen, rally, agility, scent work, trick dog, therapy dog, and more, we help teams build confidence, communication, and real-world skills. We also host AKC-sanctioned trials, tests, and events throughout the year, creating opportunities for fun, fellowship, and achievement. Whether your goal is a better-behaved companion, a stronger partnership, or success in the ring, there is a place for you at OKC.

A Community of Dog Lovers

More than anything, Olean Kennel Club is a community. Our members support one another, share knowledge, volunteer together, and celebrate every milestone along the way. Monthly club meetings are open to the public, and we encourage anyone interested in training, dog sports, and responsible dog ownership to come see what our club is all about.

Our History

With roots that began in 1923 as the Enchanted Mountain Kennel Club, our organization has a long history of bringing dog enthusiasts together in Southwestern New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania. Over the decades, that tradition has grown into a vibrant club that continues to serve the region through training, events, volunteerism, and a shared passion for dogs.
