BECOME A MEMBER

How to Join the Club:

If you love dogs, enjoy learning, and want to be part of a welcoming, active community, Olean Kennel Club membership is a great next step. Join us and discover how much more fun the journey can be when you have a whole club cheering you on.

Step 1: Fill out the membership application and submit your application fee, which becomes your first year's dues*.

Step 2: Attend TWO club meetings. 

• Club meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at 7pm at our training location.

• At your first meeting you will be introduced to the club members, your application will be read aloud, and you will have the opportunity to tell us more about yourself and your dogs. 

• At your second meeting, your application is read aloud again, and your request to join the club will be put to a vote. (This vote is an important part of our club’s membership process, but don't worry, for applicants who are responsible dog owners, interested in participating, supporting the club, and being part of the community, it is typically a routine formality.) 

* Members approved between January and July: your application fee covers your membership dues for the remainder of the current calendar year. Members approved between August and December: your application fee covers your membership dues for the remainder of the current calendar year and the entire following calendar year. Should you choose to not join, or be declined membership, your dues will be returned to you (except for a $5 processing fee).

Maintaining "Good Standing"

Once you're a member, staying in "good standing" is easy

• Attend at least four (4) meetings annually, with no more than 2 unexcused absences.

• Volunteer for at least one shift at two or more OKC events including: Trials, Fundraisers, and Community Events

• Act as a responsible and courteous pet owner​, making sure your animal's health, behavioral, and social needs are met, serving as a good example of a responsible dog owner to our local communities.
